Who we are

We are the Twoside Stories, an initiative that aims to foster the creation of stories from the great outdoors in order to strengthen our connection with nature. Our website address is: https://twosidestories.com.

What personal data we collect and why

During the stories submission process, we collect and store your name, surname, nickname and email address for the following reasons:

Your name and surname, as stated in the field “name and surname”, will not be published and it will be used to acknowledge the intelectual rights of your work, if you are the owner, or for holding you responsible for the distribution of content created by third parties as agreed when submitting your content. Likewise, we will use your name and surname to address you in any possible communications related with the Twoside Stories.

Your nickname, as stated in the field “nickname/public name”, will be published together with your story in our website and potentially other channels, including printed and digital. The reason why we publish your nickname instead of your name is to protect your identity, if youw wish to do so. In the case that no nickname is provided, we will use the word “Anonymous” to acknowledge your work.

Your email address will be used for contacting you in the case we need to resolve any enquiry or matter related to the publication of your story, as well as to contact you in the case of future actions, including non-commercial and commercial, that may arise from your publication. Additionally, we may use your email address to send you updates and newsletters related with the Twoside Stories activities.

How long we retain your data

Ater submitting information and/or content to our website, we store your personal information provided in a users profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Who do we share your data with

We will share your IP address with external web analytic services. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

What rights you have over your data

If you have submitted information, content or comments to this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
