All you need to know (FAQ)
Who can participate?
Anyone that is keen to write or draw a short story. We encourage new and experience authors to take part in the challenge that writing or drawing a short story can pose.
How can I participate?
You can start by either creating the writen side of a new story, or using an existing writen side to draw upon it. The decision is up to you. Are you ready to create? Click here to access the story submission page.
What side am I?
That depends entirely on your interests and skills. You are:
- The Writing side if you are relatively good with words, or just decent, and willing to WRITE a short story from scratch.
- The Drawing side if you have basic illustration skills and you are willing to DRAW a comic-like story based on an existing writen part.
What should my story be about?
The theme of the story is free, so you can create any thing you are interested in. Once the volume of stories is high enough, we will display them clasified in categories according to their theme.
How long my story should be?
Your story should have around a thousand (1000) characters long – this way, we ensure that a drawing side will not be daunted to draw it.
Can I create both sides of a story?
You can, but… you will be missing the point. The aim of the Twoside Stories is to nurture each story with different experiences and perspectives from our live and imagination. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to either write a new side of a story or use any of the existing writen sides and complete it (upgrade it!) by drawing your side.
Is there any prize involved?
Nope. As it happens with the stories exchanged by a campfire under the stars, the story itself is the reward.
My intellectual rights: how will my work be published and licensed?
At all times, you will retain the intellectual property rights to your original content.
After submitting your work and if deemed appropriate, your story will be published in the Twoside Stories website under a Creative Commons CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license and credited to the authors involved in its creation – the writing and drawing sides. This license will make your work available online and free of charge for others to read, enjoy and share with no commercial purpose.
Additionally, your work, either individually or together with other stories, may be reproduced, printed and distributed in any format and in connection with the Twoside Stories’ activities under a non-exclusive exploitation license. When stories are used for commercial purposes, authors will be contacted to agree any potential terms beforehand – see Terms of Publication. Therefore, make sure you submit your email correctly so we can contact you.
Can my story be rejected?
Yes, we will not publish any story that contains any form of ethnic or racial discrimination, sexual exploitation, pornography, animal mistreatment, environmental degradation and/or other type of content found inappropriate in the context of the Twoside Stories.
Can I use Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated content?
This is a fast-evolving world and we don´t want to step in the middle of its path. Therefore, although we will always stay on the side of humans, the decision of using AI generated stories is on you. In any case, we request all creators to indicate whether their story-side has been AI generated when submitting.
Can I use content published by other parties?
You could, but you must be in possession of the intelectual rights of any content submitted through this website and disclose the pertinent information during submission. In any case, the Twoside Stories and its founder/s will not be held responsible for any content publish in this website that infringes any copyright law.
Can I remove a story that has been already published by the Twoside Stories?
You can request your story to be removed from our directory at any time – if that is the case, please contact us. However, since this is a collaborative project and your actions may negatively impact other people´s work, we would appreciate if you can explain the reasons of its removal so we can try to find a solution that benefits all parties.
